WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Dustin Long and Reggie McNeal each had
a pair of touchdown passes as Texas A&M continued its mastery of
Big 12 Conference rival Baylor with a 41-0 rout.
Long, who threw for Big 12 records of 544 yards and seven
touchdowns last week in a loss to Texas Tech, completed 13-of-31
passes for 169 yards and one interception.
McNeal, a highly touted freshman, entered in the fourth quarter
and completed 5-of-6 passes for 88 yards and also carried three
times for 25 yards.
Texas A&M (4-2, 1-1 Big 12 South) won its 12th straight meeting
against Baylor and shut the Bears out for the second time in
three years. The Bears have not beaten the Aggies since 1985.
Long opened the scoring with a 21-yard TD pass to Bethel Johnson
in the first quarter and Texas A&M settled for a 10-0 lead at
halftime. Tight end Thomas Carriger hauled in a four-yard
touchdown pass from Long in the third and Derek Farmer's
one-yard TD plunge made it 24-0.
McNeal added touchdown passes of 59 yards to Johnson and
L'Tydrick Riley in the fourth.
The Aggies' "wrecking Crew" defense limited Baylor (3-3, 1-1) to
229 yards of total offense and picked off the Bears'
quarterbacks five times, leading to 17 points. Baylor starter
Aaron Karas was 12-of-27 for 89 yards and four interceptions.
The Bears, who snapped their 29-game conference losing streak
last week against Kansas, were shut out for the second time this
season.
