Washington first loses starting quarterback Bill Douglas by injury, then sees replacement Bill Siler throw three interceptions and fumble twice. Dave Kopay scores for Washington, but a Jim Plankenhorn field goal and Jim Warren touchdown give the Illini a lead that Jim Grabowski fattens with a 125-yard day and a clinching touchdown.
