LOGAN, Utah - Diondre Borel threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 113 yards to lead Utah State 30-14 over Hawaii Saturday.
Peter Caldwell also kicked three field goals for the Aggies (2-7, 2-3 Western Athletic Conference). The Warriors fell to 4-5 and 3-3 in the WAC.
Utah State led at halftime for the first time this season, 13-7, after a field goal attempt by Warrior kicker Dan Kelly was blocked.
Utate State scored on the next play when Diondre Borel connected with Nnamdi Gwacham for a 62-yard touchdown, the team's longest pass play of the season, giving the Aggies a 10-0 lead.
Late in the third quarter, Diondre Borel found Robert Turbin for a 23-yard touchdown pass to give Utah State a 20-7 lead.
Hawaii scored in the second quarter on a 34-yard pass from Greg Alexander to Michael Washington. Alexander passed for a total of 186 yards on 13 of 27 attempts.
Alexander also scored on a nine-yard run on a broken play with 7:00 remaining in the game to bring the score to 20-14.
But a 61-yard run by Diondre Borel gave Utah State the ball inside the 10-yard line with 5:10 to play.
Caldwell then kicked a 21-yard field goal to give Utah State a 23-14 lead.
Hawaii was unable to gain a critical fourth down in the closing minutes of the game. A fumble at the end of a 90-yard kickoff return also closed the door on the Warriors.
